Prince George County Planning Commission elects chair, vice chair and adopts 2026 schedule

The Prince George County Planning Commission completed its organizational business at the Jan. 30, 2026 meeting by electing Miss Knoepa as chair and Mister Howe as vice chair, adopting the 2026 meeting schedule and approving previous meeting minutes with several abstentions recorded.

After roll call and the Pledge of Allegiance the commission adopted the meeting agenda and proceeded to the organizational items. A nomination was made to elect Miss Knoepa as chair; the roll call vote recorded several affirmative votes and one abstention and the nomination was approved. Commissioners then nominated and elected Mister Howe as vice chair by roll call.

The commission also moved to adopt the Planning Commission’s 2026 meeting schedule (Tab 2) and approved minutes from Dec. 18, 2025; several commissioners recorded abstentions on the minutes votes as reflected in the roll calls.

During communications, Mister Graves updated the commission on routine items: there were no Board of Zoning Appeals actions in December and that board will hold an organizational meeting; the Branchestor townhomes application is expected to return and may be deferred again; staff will propose tweaks to the bylaws to clarify tie votes; the commission’s annual report was drafted for review and County staff are working on Chesapeake Bay preservation ordinance amendments and scheduling the comprehensive plan public hearing with the Board of Supervisors.

The commission adjourned following a roll-call vote.
