Dr. Steven Jones, representing Cherokee Nation Health Services, told the committee the extension would let the Nation "pull in some other resources from their financial side, not just their health side." He introduced Mr. Gordon and Miss O'Dell to answer technical and contractual questions.
Mr. Gordon told members Oracle acquired Cerner, which the Nation uses as its EHR. "This particular cloud services agreement is separate from the existing master we have," he said, describing the new contract as an effort to license an integration (middleware) that will connect the Nation’s EHR tools, RPMS and other systems. He said the change is intended to "elevate the level of purchase and referred care awareness, efficiencies within that program."
Committee members asked clarifying questions about scope and whether migration issues from past transitions would recur; Mr. Gordon said this agreement is focused on the purchase-and-referred-care program and is not a full transfer of historic systems. Dr. Jones also warned that some recent email messages may have been delayed because the health system is moving users to a new cherokeenationhealth.org tenant and asked constituents to resend items if they did not receive a reply.
