Cherokee Nation increases at-large organization grants and adds $2,000 mini‑COTA capacity grant

Savannah Smith, Community and Cultural Outreach, told the committee that the at-large organization grant increased this year from $2,000 to $3,000 per organization and that staff added a new "mini COTA" grant worth $2,000 for capacity-building uses such as rental space and fundraising equipment. “In the past the orgs have always gotten 2,000 and we increased that to 3,” Smith said, and added that the additional $2,000 mini grant is available by application.
Councilors asked how outreach about the change was being conducted; Smith said organizations were notified by email. The committee did not take formal action on the grant policy during the meeting and staff did not provide total budget figures for the increases during the report.
