Village staff updated the Hortonville board on the Main Street reconstruction project during the Feb. 5 meeting. Officials said the team opted not to place a crossing at one originally discussed location but will install one rapid rectangular flashing beacon (RRFB) on the east downtown segment. At the Nash intersection staff described adding a stop sign and additional pedestrian crossing signage; they shortened the right-turn lane to discourage high-speed turning and improve pedestrian visibility.
To reduce costs, staff recommended switching pavement from concrete to asphalt; they said the change is not expected to materially affect residents’ experience and may improve future stormwater and maintenance handling. Staff stated the project would be put out to bid around Feb. 16.
Trustees asked no substantive questions during the update, and staff said they would continue with bid scheduling after incorporating the changes.
