At its February meeting, the Davis County Library Board approved routine governance items and ratified a $5,000 unsolicited grant for the Kaysville branch.
The board unanimously approved minutes from the Jan. 8, 2026 meeting after Justin Wright moved to approve and Rose Leitay seconded. Members also ratified December 2025 expenditures, the quarterly donations report and a low-dollar contract summary totaling $1,385.
Library staff told the board that a small set of 2025 expenses appear in ‘period 13’—January 2026 accounting entries—because invoices posted after year-end. Staff said audited revenue and final fiscal-year figures will be confirmed after the county audit, typically completed in July. The board did not change budget assumptions at the meeting.
Justin Wright, a board member, described the Watkins Foundation award as an unexpected but welcome donation: “I don’t very often get to tell people that money fell out of the sky.” The board moved to accept the $5,000 grant from the Mac and Julius Watkins Foundation; staff said the funds will increase the Kaysville branch’s books and materials line, with circulation and cross-branch lending managed by staff.
Board chair Ryan Nielsen called the voice votes for each ratification; no formal opposing votes were recorded during the meeting. The board also ratified an updated memorandum of agreement with the Utah State Library that staff said corrected a small contract-overrun item identified in auditor review.
The board adjourned at 1:46 p.m.
