Iowa House recognizes visitors and community groups, then adjourns to Feb. 11

Representative Matson introduced Mariana Martinez, a senior at Bettendorf High School and member of the State of Iowa Youth Advisory Council (SIAC), who is job-shadowing in the chamber and plans to pursue a BSN at Saint Ambrose; Matson noted Martinez has worked as a certified nursing assistant and in childcare.
Representative Andre used his time to call attention to veterans’ mental-health needs, saying, "In this country today, approximately 20 veterans commit suicide on a daily basis," and invited members to meet a veterans group called 'Anonymously Grateful' in Room 305 from 1:00–2:00. Representative Moore noted his birthday and invited colleagues to share cake. Representative Kresge announced that the Isle Child Care Coalition and Blank Children's Hospital were tabling in the rotunda to discuss child prevention centers across the state.
Before adjournment, Representative Stone moved that the House adjourn until Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. The presiding officer put the question, the ayes were recorded as prevailing and the House adjourned.
