Community development staff briefed the board on city projects and a problematic property at 42 South Washington on Feb. 10, saying the building has an open roof and is leaking, posing risks to adjacent structures. Staff said they have discussed options with city attorneys and would present recommended next steps and possible enforcement or repair strategies to the council next month.
Staff also reported that a multimodal planning submission has been made to the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), with staff anticipating a potential construction start in 2027 if approvals and funding proceed. The item will return with more detailed options and, if necessary, a proposed ordinance or remediation plan for the troubled property.
