The Capitola City Council confirmed a staff recommendation Feb. 12 to appoint Captain Moreno as the city’s representative to the Housing for Health Partnership policy board.
City staff explained the partnership, created in 2021, serves as the federally designated continuum of care for Santa Cruz County and is governed by a 15-member policy board comprised of public agencies and community stakeholders. Capitola shares a rotating seat with Scotts Valley; staff said the next Housing for Health meeting is April 20 and recommended the appointment.
Councilmember Austin moved to appoint Captain Moreno; Councilmember Jensen seconded and the appointment passed unanimously. Staff noted that having a public-safety representative on the board can be beneficial under federal scoring rubrics used for certain funding opportunities.
Captain Moreno will represent the city at board meetings and report back as appropriate.
