Glendale Heights board approves $2.4M consent agenda, adopts two ordinances

The Glendale Heights Village Board on Feb. 5 approved a consent agenda that included payroll and accounts payable totaling $2,408,523.90 and authorized multiple contracts and pay requests, and it adopted two ordinances affecting zoning and the 2026 meeting schedule.
Village Administrator Doug Flint read the consent agenda, which included approval of minutes, the 01/30/2026 payroll and the 02/05/2026 accounts payable listing totaling $2,408,523.90, a professional design engineering contract for the North President Street resurfacing project, a CDBG intergovernmental agreement for a water main replacement project, water meter testing services, and pay requests including a $126,028.95 final pay request to Trotter Associates and multiple pay requests to Builders Paving LLC (totaling $1,296,595.79 across listed items). Trustee Schmidt moved to approve the consent agenda and Trustee Light seconded; the board approved the consent agenda by roll call.
The board also waived first reading and adopted Ordinance 2026-09, an amendment to Title 11 (zoning) updating definitions and conditional uses for the general commercial district to permit smoke establishments. Mayor Giannelli said the item came from the committee of the whole and first reading had already occurred in January. The ordinance was adopted by roll call vote.
The board waived first reading and adopted Ordinance 2026-10 to add a July village board meeting to the official calendar. Mayor Giannelli said adding the July meeting will help the board "make sure that we're moving the business of the village along." The ordinance was adopted by roll call vote.
Mayor Giannelli opened the meeting by thanking the Glendale Heights Chamber of Commerce and its members for their work supporting local businesses. "The Glendale Heights Chamber of Commerce is one of those critical organizations that highlights the businesses and the work that they're doing every day to support our communities," she said.
No public speakers addressed agenda items during the formal public-comment period and the meeting adjourned. The board immediately convened its Committee of the Whole for committee reports following adjournment.
What’s next: The ordinances take effect according to the village code and administrative process; no additional implementation dates were announced at the meeting.
