Board members discussed proposals to move the start time earlier to 9:00 a.m. to help clear a backlog of cases, but several commissioners cited childcare and public‑transit constraints that would make an earlier start impractical. Deputy Director Matthew Green told the board the department would like to schedule three cases per month to address a backlog of roughly 30 code‑enforcement cases and about a dozen housing‑inspection cases.
The City Attorney advised the board that the bylaws should reflect the actual regular meeting time so the public and staff are on notice and the board has a set, regular meeting time. After discussion, a motion to adopt 9:30 a.m. as the official start time was made, seconded and carried on a roll call vote with all commissioners voting yes.
The board also discussed using occasional special meetings to address the backlog, an option some members supported if changing the standing start time proved infeasible for all members. The vote to set the regular start time concluded without further amendment to the schedule.
