County circulated updated emergency operations plan; commissioners asked to submit feedback by Jan. 16

An elected county official reported to the Sheridan County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 5 that an updated emergency operations plan (EOP) has been circulated to elected officials and first-responder departments for review.
The official said the update includes minor clarifications, language improvements and a new severe winter weather annex based on after-action reviews. "The emergency operations plan ... is a public document," the speaker said, and asked commissioners to return comments by Jan. 16 if possible; the speaker indicated that date is not a firm deadline and accommodations can be made for more time.
If the circulated changes stand, staff plans to bring the updated plan to the commissioners for formal adoption and then to each town council for their approval. The official said minor past updates sometimes proceeded without going back to each town council, but in this cycle staff intends to ask for formal adoption by the commissioners and town councils.
Outlook: Commissioners were asked to review the plan and provide edits or confirmation; staff will compile feedback and schedule formal adoption if appropriate.
