School Committee approves student-fundraising policy updates, continues school choice and accepts mental-health grant

The Auburn School Committee unanimously approved updates to the student-fundraising policy (JJE) during its Feb. 11 meeting after a third reading and a motion that was seconded and passed by voice vote. The committee also voted to continue the district’s participation in the Massachusetts school-choice program for the 2026–27 year, with the number of open slots to be set after demographic review in March, in compliance with Massachusetts General Law.
In business and finance items, the committee voted to add a Brain Change to Mind student club at Auburn High School and accept an associated grant awarded to Megan Berg (eligible for up to $500 annually) to support mental-health awareness activities during lunch. The committee approved the proposed school-department warrant articles to be submitted for the May 5 town meeting. All motions were made, seconded and approved by voice vote as recorded in the meeting.
