Facilities director outlines roofing, foundation and security priorities; work orders spike

Zach Mosby, the district's director of facilities, presented a summary of maintenance, custodial and grounds work and identified top priorities for the year: ensuring safety and security, repairing and replacing roofing at the high school, early-childhood building, Daniel Boone and Blackhawk Middle School, and addressing a reported foundation failure at a site the transcript calls the 'bridal house.'
Mosby reviewed recent completed projects — gym floor refinish, bathroom upgrades, LED lighting and freezer installation for the Big Red Boosters — and said work-order volume has risen. "Last year, we did about, you know, just under 1,500 work orders. This year to date, we've already completed 1,235. And, with that said, you know, we could top 2,100 this year," Mosby told the board.
Board members asked whether pavement repairs were performed by district crews or contractors; Mosby said the district contracts that work out. Mosby also confirmed the freezer at the high school was installed for the Big Red Boosters and that the district provided space within its kitchen operations. A question about a new greenhouse drew a response that a few corrections remain and that Mosby did not have a definitive timeline for completion.
No formal board action was taken on facilities items during the meeting; Mosby said many projects proceed when funds and time are available. The board did not vote to allocate additional funds at this meeting; capital and bond funds were discussed during the finance report.
