On the rules calendar the House also took up and passed two bills. Representative Lauren McDonald described House Bill 944 as an amendment to code provisions governing safe operation of motor carriers and the transportation of hazardous materials, saying, "All we're doing here is changing the date, the annual date from 2025 to 2026." The bill passed by a recorded vote: yeas 162, nays 4. During floor debate Representative Mix raised a procedural inquiry about whether a prior change to an agency acronym had been reflected in the bill text; the clerk said the matter would be checked.
Representative Werkheiser presented House Bill 1015, amending funding levels for the self-insurers guaranteed trust fund overseen by the state workers' compensation board. As Werkheiser explained on the floor, "We're raising the floor from 5,000,000 to 10,000,000 and raising the ceiling from 15,000,000 to 25,000,000." The bill passed by recorded vote: yeas 165, nays 3.
