At its Feb. 14 meeting, the Canyon City School Board approved updated nondiscrimination policies and complaint forms, rescinded an older complaint process, adopted the 2026–27 district calendar, revised CCHS graduation requirements and approved Eureka Math for K–5 instruction.
The Canyon City School Board on Feb. 14 approved a package of policy and operational items, including updates to nondiscrimination policies, a revised district calendar, new graduation-credit requirements for Canyon City High School and adoption of a K–5 math curriculum.
The board approved File AC, an updated nondiscrimination and equal-opportunity policy presented by HR director Jamie Davis. The board also approved two companion items — File AC‑E‑1 (nondiscrimination/equal opportunity notice) and File AC‑E‑2 (an updated complaint form designed to meet new legislative data requirements) — and voted to rescind File AC‑R‑1, the older complaint-and-compliance process, moving those procedures to internal administrative processes. During the roll calls, members recorded aye votes on the AC series; one recorded no vote (Miss Reese) was noted on AC‑E‑2, but the motion carried.
The board also approved a recommended amendment to graduation-credit requirements for Canyon City High School. In addition, members approved the proposed district calendar for the 2026–27 academic year after committee review.
On curriculum, the board voted to adopt Eureka Math as the district’s K–5 math resource. Chair and members thanked the adoption committee for its work in vetting and recommending the materials.
Superintendent Christopher Hartman, summarizing district work in his report, said he was “pleased by the size as well as the quality of the application tools that we had” during recent hiring panels, reflecting efforts to fill leadership positions in the district.
What’s next: CHCA handbook updates presented for information were scheduled for a future vote; other approved items take effect per district scheduling and administrative implementation.
