The Tyler City Council authorized the city manager to execute an agreement transferring the building and lot at 2000 West Gentry Parkway to the Tyler Metro Chamber of Commerce and approved a one‑time $50,000 grant to fund roof repairs.
Staff (Leanne) said the transfer is conditional: the property will be used to promote a public service and, if the organization ceases public‑purpose operations, ownership reverts to the city. The Chamber must maintain the property at its cost and comply with applicable federal, state and local nonprofit regulations. The agreement requires a final report within 60 days after completion documenting work completed and receipts.
Sandra Burns, executive director of the Tyler Metro Chamber of Commerce, told the council the organization has been at the location for more than 20 years and thanked the council and staff for their support. She singled out Councilmembers Shonda Marsh, Petra Hawkins, Kedrick Trimble and Leanne Robinette for assistance on the project.
Councilmember Hawkins moved to approve M‑1, Winn seconded, the council voted by voice and the motion carried.
