Board approves server upgrade and adopts legislative priorities for 2025 session

At the Feb. 18 meeting the Liberty Hill ISD Board approved two operations items: a recommended server and storage upgrade and a district legislative priorities statement for the 2025 legislative session.
Information technology staff recommended purchasing memory and software upgrades to existing server hardware to ensure reliable performance and extend usable life through 2028. The board approved the purchase from Weaver Technologies in the amount of $125,611.55 to be paid from remaining 2021 bond funds.
"This upgrade will allow us to continue using the hardware through its lifespan through 2028," the presenters said when explaining the competitive solicitation and recommended award.
Superintendent Travis Snell presented a one-page set of legislative priorities trustees approved for the upcoming session. The priorities emphasize increased basic allotment and special-education funding, additional safety and fast-growth allotments and funding for new instructional facilities, maintaining reasonable local election timing and ballot language, and testing/accountability reform tied to the burden on staff and classroom instruction. Trustees said the priorities will guide district advocacy in Austin.
Earlier in the evening the board also approved its consent agenda, which included minutes, monthly financial highlights (tax collection ~90% of budgeted revenue), the enrollment report (9,966 students as of the last Friday) and a board resolution regarding pay for a Jan. 21 bad-weather closure.
What happens next: The server purchase will be processed under the 2021 bond program; district legislative staff and trustees will use the adopted priorities in outreach to state lawmakers during the session.
