Green Bay approves $354,819 playground at Beaumont Park; school district to cover overage

The Director said the city bonded $75,000 in 2023 toward replacing the playground and originally budgeted about $150,000 for a typical park playground. The school district is renovating Beaumont School and requested a larger playground; the Director said the playground will sit on park property and the district agreed to pay any costs beyond the city's $75,000 allocation. The Director said the department issued multiple proposals, scored them with a committee of city staff and school district members, and ranked Minnesota Playground Inc.'s second option as the highest-scoring proposal.
The Director described the $354,819 figure as an all-inclusive cost to purchase, deliver and install the playground and the synthetic turf surfacing. A motion to approve hiring Minnesota Playground Inc. (Option 2) was made, seconded and passed by unanimous vote.
The Director added the department will retain one older "Packer Playground" donation piece that remains in good shape and remove other existing equipment as part of the installation. No member cast an opposing vote.
The contract approval authorizes staff to proceed with procurement and coordinate with the school district on funding and installation scheduling.
