City selects low bidder for Kitty Hawk–Bulldog traffic signal; project within budget

Jonathan Stath of the city engineering department told the council the low bidder on the Kitty Hawk Drive and Bulldog Road traffic-signal project was Cache Valley Electric, a firm the city has worked with previously. Stath said a portion of the materials (the signal heads) will be purchased from UDOT (about $148,000) with Cache Valley's installation bid at roughly $243,000. He noted the contractor had an addendum-signature irregularity at bid opening but later provided the paperwork; staff described this as a curable informality and said policy allows waiving that deficiency when there's no unfair advantage.
Stath estimated materials lead time at about three months, after which installation would begin. The project will include luminaire extensions on the signal poles for lighting and restriping and ADA ramp replacements at the intersection. Council voted to place the item on next week's consent agenda.
