Organizers of Merrill Osman youth Pioneer production seek continued Cedar City partnership

Representatives of the Merrill Osman youth Pioneer production thanked the council for prior support, presented a short highlight reel and requested continued city partnership and possible budget consideration for future shows. Organizers said the production is non‑denominational, free to the public and that proceeds beyond production costs go to charity.

"This is not a moneymaker for us," a presenter said, explaining the production depends heavily on local support and that the team has run deficits in recent years. The presenters asked the council to consider working with the mayor's office and the city events coordinator, and suggested staff contact Brandon Burke to review sponsorship and budget options.

The council played a recorded message from Governor Spencer Cox in support of the production, in which the governor described the event as a tribute to Utah pioneers and welcomed the audience. Organizers said they collaborate with SUU, Iron County Tourism and neighboring cities and noted interest from America 250 and other partners.

Council members asked clarifying questions about who should receive sponsorship materials and whether the request should be routed through the mayor's office and the city's event coordinator. Presenters were directed to share details with the mayor's office and Brandon Burke for potential inclusion in the city budget process.
