Chris McGraw, a member of the Tree Committee in Draper, used a brief public comment to urge residents to plant and properly care for trees and to promote the committee's public-education efforts.
McGraw said the Tree Committee is "a group of citizens of Draper that, get together once a month" to work on projects and educate the public about trees. He outlined the committee's primary objectives: advising residents which trees are best to plant, when to plant them, how deep to plant, how to maintain them and how often to water—"on a daily basis or weekly basis," he said.
McGraw credited the committee with contributing to the city by "planting trees and providing shades for our brutal summers," adding, "There's no shade like the tree." He emphasized that temperatures rise quickly in Utah summers and that trees offer cooling and respite from the sun.
He closed by saying the tree committee has become a priority for him and that he looks forward to "getting more information out there to the public about trees and tree roots." The comment concluded with McGraw saying, "Thanks."
