The vote came after commissioners debated removing language in sections 4.3 and 3.2.c that allows the chair to direct written ballots for internal officer elections. Supporters said the change would simplify officer selection; opponents sought to preserve the chair’s discretion for confidential or contested votes.
Separately, the commission unanimously approved the minutes from a prior meeting. The meeting closed after a successful motion to adjourn.
