Commission adopts airport Title VI/DBE/CPP plans and accepts $46,550 landscaping grant

The Grand County Commission adopted several airport plans required for federal funding eligibility and accepted a state landscaping grant for the Canyonlands Regional Airport.
Tara (airport staff) explained that Title VI, the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program and a Community Participation Plan (CPP) are prerequisites for FAA Airport Improvement Program (AIP) funding. The commission adopted those plans unanimously, preserving eligibility for future AIP grants.
Separately, commissioners accepted a Utah Airport Revitalization grant totaling $46,550 to fund landscaping improvements at the airport entrance. Airport staff said the work will focus on grading, weed barrier installation and decorative rock; airport personnel will do labor in‑house to reduce costs and there is no county match requirement. The commission approved acceptance of the grant unanimously.
Staff also noted the county will pursue the entrance sign design as a potential future grant project once design is finalized.
