Clarkston commission proposes monthly meetings, notes wildfire interface ordinance duty

At the February meeting commissioners discussed future scheduling, training, and an incoming wildfire urban‑interface ordinance requirement.

Commissioners compared calendar conflicts and coalesced around meeting monthly on the second Tuesday at 7 p.m.; the chair said that the change must be placed on a future agenda for a formal vote. Members also asked for training on the town’s online inspection/permit system so they can better track permit comments and approvals.

The chair alerted the commission to a state designation of wildfire urban interface areas and explained towns must adopt an ordinance acknowledging the state mapping. The chair said Clarkston’s county is currently designated “moderate,” so immediate local impacts are limited within town limits, but the town will still need to adopt appropriate ordinance language to align with state requirements.

Next steps: the commission will place the proposed meeting‑time change and training request on a future agenda and will work with town staff to gather information about the wildfire urban‑interface designation for possible ordinance adoption.
