Team Inc. asks Claiborne County for $6,500; board declines increase, approves budgeted nonprofit payments

Several supervisors responded that the county had budgeted a set allocation for nonprofits and that raising one nonprofit’s payment without matching the others would be inequitable.
A motion to award Team Incorporated $6,500 was made but failed for lack of support after multiple supervisors said the budgeted nonprofit allocation is $2,850 each. The board later voted to proceed with payments consistent with that established allocation and authorized payments to the listed nonprofits.
What happened next: board members asked staff to research whether previously allocated funds remain in the advertising/donation line item and to return with any needed budget adjustments. Phillips asked the board to keep Team Incorporated under consideration for future funding adjustments.
