Hancock County supervisors approve claims, bids, reappointments and animal shelter donations

The Hancock County Board of Supervisors on Jan. 12 approved a docket of claims, multiple procurement bids, a slate of personnel reappointments and several donations, in a meeting dominated by routine business.
The board approved the claims docket dated Dec. 22 totaling $1,065,046.53 and accepted a marketing proposal with BBR Creative for $46,500 to support the county’s economic development outreach efforts. Purchasing also presented and the board approved re-advertising and acceptance of multiple term bids, covering items such as cold mix, DBST, limestone, gravel, hot mix, microsurfacing, pest control, portable toilets, signage and related services. The actions were taken by motion and recorded as carrying 5-0.
On personnel matters the board reappointed Jimmy Landers as county administrator; Gary Yarbrough as county attorney; Leroy Lee as road manager; Alex Davis as county engineer; Holly Bilbo as Hancock County MA Director; and reappointed current county employees to their positions and salaries for 2026. The board voted 5-0 to approve the reappointments.
The board accepted animal shelter donations presented by Greg of the county animal shelter: $1,000 from the Dowman Family Foundation, $1,000 from Robert Hodges, and a $20,000 donation from Stephanie Jacobs Jensen with a request that those funds be used toward construction of a new animal shelter facility. The acceptance motion carried 5-0.
