Committee forwards $25,000 transfer to pay YMCA for early warming shelter opening

Mister Hannes read the measure amending the 2025 general fund and general building code fund budgets to authorize the transfer. Miss Kistler explained the background: the administration and council agreed to contribute toward opening the shelter early to house individuals from an encampment who were interested in going to the YMCA. She said the $25,000 is located in the building code fund, which is an enterprise fund, and therefore requires approval to transfer out so that the city can issue payment: "The $25,000 is in the building code fund, which is an enterprise fund. So in order for this money to go to the Y, it has to move favorably through council to be a transfer out of the enterprise fund so that the check can be written."
A motion to forward Bill 100 favorably to full council was made and seconded, and the committee approved the referral by voice vote.
Next steps: The bill will go before full council for final approval of the transfer; if approved, the city will release funds to pay the YMCA invoice for the shelter’s early opening.
