Mister Hannes read the bill, which would amend the 2025 grant fund budgets to provide a $1,000,000 supplemental appropriation from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) local share pass-through. Miss Kistler told the committee that the city's role is to submit applications and that awards are decided by the state: "We simply take the applications, put them into the system. They go to the state for their consideration. Baum has applied for $1,000,000 toward its renovations," she said.
Committee members did not request further detail in the meeting. A motion to forward Bill 98 favorably to full council was moved and seconded; the chair called for the voice vote, and the item was forwarded to full council.
Next steps: Bill 98 will appear before the full City Council; any release of grant funds is contingent on DCED approval of the application and any required local matching or conditions.
