The Hancock County Board on Dec. 1 amended its agenda and voted to accept a donation from the Joseph M. Jones Jr. testamentary trust to support a public cemetery expansion, contingent on county attorney review and finalization of the estate. The estate remains open in probate, and staff said acceptance authorization would proceed once the estate is finalized.
District 5 moved to amend the agenda to add the donation item and said the estate "is still open, but is currently close to being resolved," asking county counsel to review environmental or title issues before final acceptance. The motion to accept the donation and authorize signatures contingent on county attorney review carried 5–0.
In routine finance items the board approved an interfund transfer of $10,743 from the DOJ forfeiture fund to the drug task force fund and approved the docket of claims for Dec. 1, 2025 in the amount of $1,314,867.94; both motions recorded unanimous approval.
Other routine items approved included multiple purchasing and equipment repairs, permit refunds and personnel minutes spread; these were recorded as part of standard consent and departmental reports.
