Board renames Emergency Operations Center for longtime EMA director Brian Hootie Adam

The Hancock County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a resolution on Nov. 17 renaming the county Emergency Operations Center as the Brian Hootie Adam Emergency Operations Center.
The resolution, read on the record by a board member, cites Brian Hootie Adam’s more than 22 years of service as the county’s Emergency Management Agency director, beginning in February 2003. The text specifically noted Adam’s leadership during Hurricane Katrina and other natural disasters and said the board intended to memorialize his service by officially naming the facility in his honor.
The resolution was made by motion, seconded, and carried unanimously with all districts voting in favor. County officials said the resolution will be signed by the board president and the chancery clerk.
Board members spoke in tribute during the meeting. The board also presented an etched item and read a Bible verse (Mark 10:45) as part of the recognition. No formal budgetary action was associated with the renaming apart from administrative steps to update signage and records.
