One commissioner said they had asked UDOT for a reevaluation in the past and that UDOT typically requires documented crash severity to support reduced limits. Commissioners said they would support communications with UDOT and explore traffic‑calming or design features (e.g., visual islands) that can justify lower limits.
A commissioner also raised heavy truck volumes ("no less than 100 trucks" reported on a recent day) and said pavement is crumbling; the commission recommended meeting with the property owner(s) responsible for truck traffic before pursuing enforcement or restrictions. The public comment period closed and the commission moved to adjourn.
