Parks Department staff told the committee that seasonal positions are open on the city website and requested help spreading the word. The openings include lifeguards, summer playground staff, interns and laborers, with positions expected to start in early May or June.
Miss Chalena, Parks Department staff, said the department is "really looking forward to have a great team" and asked the committee to share the job postings. She also announced a community all-star basketball game on Feb. 21 at Dearup High School and promoted an upcoming Franklin Park planning meeting on Feb. 26 at a local church.
The Franklin Park planning process will include three meetings — the Feb. 26 session, plus meetings in March and April — intended to produce a completed park design by mid-summer, Miss Chalena said. The Feb. 26 meeting is described as the first of three opportunities for residents to provide input on the park footprint and amenities.
No formal decisions or funding authorizations for Franklin Park were recorded at the committee meeting; staff presented the schedule and asked for public participation.
