The Allentown Planning Commission voted to grant a one-year extension to 02/13/2027 for the Central Park Apartments land-development approval at 605 Wineta Street.
Melissa, a city planning staff member, said the applicant has completed some required steps but still must finish sewer planning, drainage review, traffic-impact revisions and record plans. "Staff does not object to this extension," she told the commission.
Commissioners discussed whether an additional year would exceed the five-year protections established in the city's updated Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO). Staff explained earlier approvals had been issued under the older code and the new SALDO sets a five-year expiration and allows a further extension under specified criteria. Several members said site constraints and the need to coordinate with the adjacent Northridge Development justified extra time.
Commissioner Greg moved to grant the one-year extension; the motion was seconded. Chair called for a voice vote, and the ayes carried. Chair told the applicant, "We'll give you 1 more year." The vote was recorded by voice; no roll-call tally was requested.
The extension keeps the project active while the applicant coordinates Waneta Street realignment with the adjacent development and completes outstanding plan-recording and permitting tasks. If the applicant does not meet subsequent conditions and timelines, staff noted it could be required to resubmit under the current SALDO.
