Arts Council says most of prior board resigned; new board plans July 24 grand reopening

Arts Council representatives told the Goodland City Commission that nearly all members of the previous board resigned at an emergency meeting and that a newly constituted board is working to stabilize operations and renovate the arts center.
An unnamed Arts Council presenter said, “pretty much all but 1 person on the board had resigned during that meeting,” and outlined immediate priorities including physical updates to the building and new, sustainable programs. She invited the public and commissioners to a planned grand reopening on July 24, beginning at 5 p.m., that will include a ribbon-cutting, an art gallery of local Western Kansas works, food vendors and other community events.
Darla Mossberger and additional board members were listed by the presenter among the new leadership. A city crew member, Kent, was praised for recent exterior work on the building, including repainting of flagpoles, light poles and sidewalk/brick improvements.
Commissioners thanked the volunteers and encouraged community attendance. No formal city action or funding decision was made during the presentation; the Arts Council asked only that commissioners and staff note the date and support public attendance.
