The Laramie Planning Commission approved a conditional use permit on Nov. 10 to allow a third accessory structure — a 10-by-20-foot carport — in an R3 multifamily zoning district.
Joseph Shehidi, a planner with the City of Laramie, said staff reviewed the application and found it met city requirements, including setback and size standards for the R3 district. "The carport doesn't change how the property itself was accessed," Shehidi said, noting the project uses the existing driveway and would not increase parking demand.
Shehidi described the structure as typical for the neighborhood and said mature landscaping would mostly screen it from view. Staff reported no identified concerns related to noise, utilities, lights or traffic. "We received 1 public comment on the project, and no concerns were raised," Shehidi added.
Commissioners identified a drafting error in the meeting packet where zoning was mistakenly listed as R1; staff confirmed the correct zoning is R3 and the Commission corrected the record. The transcript indicates the applicant joined the meeting virtually and offered no additional comments.
The Commission "approved the conditional use permit," according to the meeting recap. The transcript does not record a motion maker or second, nor does it include a roll-call vote tally; the approval is recorded without a detailed vote count in the available record.
