Rankin County board approves routine tax and administrative items, authorizes Myers Road bridge advertising and sets March 2 hearings

The Rankin County Board of Supervisors on Feb. 13 approved a range of routine administrative items including minutes, tax-assessor petitions and assessments, authorized publication of homestead exemption notices, granted authority to advertise a Myers Road bridge replacement project and set public hearings for March 2 at 9:00 a.m.

Minutes: A motion to approve the Feb. 2 minutes was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.

Tax-assessor items: President introduced Stacey McNich, identified in the record as the tax assessor. The board approved petitions to adjust the 2025 homestead exemption and supplemental filings, then approved petitions for change of assessment on 2025 real and personal property assessments.

Public notices: The board authorized publication of the homestead exemption public notice in the Rankin County News for the weeks of March 11 and March 18.

Myers Road bridge: Tim Parker updated the board that the developer had not yet furnished a required letter of credit for the bridge project on Myers Road and that right-of-way documentation remained outstanding. The board authorized staff to advertise the bridge project once required right-of-way and one right-of-way document are in place.

Public hearings: The board set public hearings for items c and d (and related matters) on March 2 at 9 a.m.
