Rawlins council approves routine business: minutes, payroll, bills, license and two appointments; proclaims Fire Prevention Week

The council approved minutes for Sept. 21 and Sept. 28 and the Oct. 5 agenda by online vote. It then confirmed the appointment of Larry Jackson to the Rawlins Community Shooting Range Advisory Board for a term ending June 30, 2023; Jackson described past service on the board and recent maintenance work at the range.
The council approved the payroll register for Sept. 12–25, 2021 in the amount of $232,614.55 and accounts payable for Sept. 15–28, 2021 in the amount of $126,390.15 after staff addressed line-item questions. The council also approved a retail liquor license matter for a business identified in the meeting record as Mister Jack’s LLC for up to one year (license number 95; expiration noted in the record as Aug. 31, 2022).
Councilman Garner moved to reappoint Council member Linda Ann Smith as the elected municipal representative to the Local Government Liability Pool (LGLP) for a term effective Jan. 1, 2022 through Dec. 31, 2024; Smith abstained from that vote and the motion passed with six yeas and one abstention.
Mayor Jerry Alweich issued a Fire Prevention Week proclamation urging residents to maintain home escape plans, install and test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and take advantage of outreach by the Rawlins Fire Department, including planned school visits.
The meeting concluded after the council approved an emergency resolution to begin repairs to the Sage Creek Springs transmission line.
