Topside Manor seeks small parcel from city for storage; staff to prepare transfer documents

Representatives from Topside Manor told the joint Goodland city and county commissions they want to acquire a narrow parcel west of the complex outlined in red on a map presented to the commission to site a storage shed and allow additional room for future facility needs.

The Topside Manor representative (Speaker 3) estimated the requested strip at roughly 70–75 feet across and said it would line up with an existing fence and give space because a retention pond directly west of Topside Manor prevents building in that area. City staff (Speaker 4) clarified the request would stop at the Topside Manor property line and would not extend to the entire south fence shown on the map.

Commissioners asked whether the parcel's transfer would affect future housing plans or utility corridors; staff said the parcel is included in RHID district planning but that transferring the strip would not require rezoning and that surveying and an accurate legal description must be prepared before formal consideration. Commissioners expressed general support for proceeding and directed staff to work with surveying and engineering to prepare the necessary documents for a future agenda.

The item closed with direction to staff; no final transfer or sale was approved at this meeting. Staff said the written property description and documents may not be ready by the next meeting and will return for formal consideration when prepared.
