The Taos Municipal Schools Board of Education approved two separate instructional and student‑support purchases during its Jan. 21 meeting.
Instructional coaching: Melissa Eager, director of family programs, asked the board to approve 10 days of in‑person, job‑embedded coaching by Amplify coaches to support district adoption and use of CCLA/Amplify materials. Eager said using vendor coaches who work for Amplify reduces the district’s need to train external vendors about the materials. The board approved the coaching proposal for $32,000, funded from the CLSC grant.
SEEDS student leadership training: Administrators presented a proposal for five days of in‑person SEEDS training and associated student leadership activities supported by Title I/CSI funds. The presenter described activities including goal setting, cooperation, growth mindset and neuroplasticity work intended to supplement students’ online supports. The board approved the SEEDS training with the dollar amount recorded in the meeting as $45,337.
Both motions were made, seconded and approved by roll call during the new‑business portion of the meeting. Administrators said they will pursue vendor scheduling and coordinate with schools for implementation.
Votes on these items were procedural approvals to expend grant funds as presented; no amendments to district policy were made.
