At the start of the meeting staff provided a brief preview of items expected at next month’s meeting, including two development concepts, a preliminary plan for the Alcott development, and a minor code correction to fix an error in code language. Staff also said a joint special meeting with the council and planning board is being considered and that details will be released as they develop.
A council/staff speaker reported the depot is being delivered, streetscape pavers are being placed and final electrical work is pending, and that the Memorial Day parade will start at 10 a.m. followed by a ceremony at Forest Grove Cemetery around 11 a.m. The community pool is scheduled to open the following weekend.
During public comment a resident reported progress on a downtown mural by Jeremy Jarvis and work restarting on an arch‑over‑alley project with a new designer and volunteered signmaker involvement. The resident estimated the mural should be finished in early to mid‑June, subject to weather.
