Council approves $190,450 engineering agreement for Rogers Road well design

Tooele City Council voted unanimously on Jan. 21 to approve Resolution 2025-92, authorizing a professional engineering services agreement with JUB Engineers, Inc. for design and bidding services for the Rogers Road public water-supply well house and a salt shed.
Public Works Director Jamie Grandpre described the action as a continuation of prior test drilling at two sites and said the team plans to move one site from test-well to production. Grandpre told the council the contract with JUB covers full design and bidding oversight and cited a contract amount of $190,450. He said design is expected to take roughly six to nine months, with construction taking another six to 12 months (overall, about two years from design start to a completed, operating well).
Council members asked about construction timing and whether a storage tank would be required for chlorine contact time; Grandpre said the preference was to run a pipeline rather than add a storage tank but that the design phase could identify different needs. Grandpre also said each new well project is planned to include a generator.
Councilman Hansen moved to approve the resolution; Councilwoman Gochis seconded. The motion passed 4-0.
The agreement moves the Rogers Road well project from testing into formal design and positions the city to solicit construction bids following completion of JUB's design work.
