Fort Worth outlines Hannah Ranch sewer upgrade serving Everman; work to start in early November

Fort Worth Water Department staff told a public meeting in Everman that the Hannah Ranch Sewer project will replace about 15,800 feet (nearly 3 miles) of aging sewer main and increase capacity in several sections, including upsizing some 21-inch pipe to 36 inches.
“My name is Walter Norwood. I’m with the City of Fort Worth Water Department, and we’re … constructing the sewer line,” Norwood said, introducing Fort Worth staff, the contractor and consultants and laying out the plan for residents to view maps and project plans. He said the city issued a notice to proceed and the contractor should begin work in early November, with the overall project expected to continue into 2026, weather permitting.
Why it matters: Fort Worth said the upgrade is intended to serve recent housing development and reduce capacity constraints that affect both Fort Worth and the City of Everman. The work will cross public streets and private easements and involves local schools and emergency services; Norwood named Hammel, Bishop and Souder elementary schools as nearby stakeholders.
Scope and schedule: Fort Worth staff described M295 (the Hannah Ranch Sewer) and a related segment identified as M329. The work includes multiple construction units: Unit 1 covers areas previously worked on, Unit 2 covers the 36-inch replacement segment, and Unit 3 extends farther west. Crews will stage the project in three bypass-pumping setups to maintain sewer service while pipes and manholes are replaced; speakers said one initial setup will involve clearing right of way and laying roughly 4,000 feet of pipe on the first section.
Traffic, access and restoration: Officials said lane closures are expected but full road closures will be minimized; flaggers will be used and roads are typically reopened at night. Norwood said streets impacted by construction will receive full street repair as part of the contract rather than short-term patching. Residents were told they will be contacted about temporary construction easement renewals and should expect door-hanger notifications (seven days and one day before work on a property).
Community concerns and operations: Residents asked how construction would affect school crossings, trash pickup and floodplain conditions. Norwood said Fort Worth will notify each school and coordinate for safety as needed, will try to accommodate trash collection (residents may be asked to place cans on the opposite side of the street), and will restore ground to its current condition without adding fill so as not to alter floodplain characteristics.
Contractors and contacts: Fort Worth identified Circle C Construction as the contractor, Hewitt Zollars as the design consultant, and Steven Martinez as the construction inspector. The city provided a project number (102152) and pointed residents to FortWorthTexas.gov for maps and documents; Norwood gave a 24-hour main-breaks number ((817) 392-4477) and said residents may report sewer overflows via the Fort Worth mobile app. Chelsea Anthony, Councilman Nettles’ district director, offered district contact cards for additional outreach.
Next steps: Fort Worth said it will post schedules and updates on its project page and Everman will link to that page to avoid conflicting information. Staff remained after the session to take individual questions.
