Wasco police report shows dozens of arrests, outreach events during early-December period

Wasco’s police chief briefed the council Dec. 16 on department activity from Dec. 1–15, reporting a mix of enforcement numbers and community outreach.
In the reporting period the department recorded 418 calls for service and 332 officer-generated incidents (approximately 80% of calls for service according to the chief). The chief said five vehicles were stolen and three later recovered; the department made 43 arrests, conducted about 165 traffic stops and issued roughly 55 citations.
The chief also described the department’s "Shop with a Cop" event on Dec. 13: 18 children participated, officers raised $4,400 and the event ultimately cost $5,641.92, with officers covering the overage from their own funds. About 20 food baskets were distributed using donations from the Community Action Partnership. Council members commended officers for community-oriented policing and for contributing personally to ensure the event’s success.
Council had no further questions and thanked staff for the report. No formal action was requested or required.
