The Arvin City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to add two potential litigation matters to its closed session after the city attorney told the council the issues arose after the agenda was posted.
City attorney staff said immediate action was needed and asked that the council add the matter to closed session for conference with legal counsel. Council member Horton moved to add the item and Council member Tarver seconded. A roll-call vote recorded yes from Council member Tarver, Council member Horton, Mayor Pro Tem Perez and Mayor Calderon; Council member Reyes was absent. The motion passed 4-0.
The attorney clarified the items will be placed under agenda item 78 and that there are two cases to be discussed. The council did not debate the substance of the cases in open session and moved on to the rest of the agenda before convening closed session.
Next steps: the council will consider the matters in closed session under item 78; no additional public details were disclosed in open session.
