Town staff said the application was filed before the program deadline (Feb. 2) and a public hearing to discuss the use of town funds is scheduled for Wednesday.
Council members described the study as a one‑time planning investment to outline possible projects to recover water leaving local fields and return it to the aquifer. One council member expressed that $30,000 felt high for a study, while others said the planning phase could identify cost‑effective local options; staff said the study outcomes would inform any future capital decisions and be followed by a presentation to the council.
The council did not take a final funding vote at the work meeting; instead it confirmed the public hearing will provide an opportunity for residents to ask questions and for council to confirm whether to accept the grant and commit the local match.
