The Herriman City Council agreed to bring its strategic plan back for an annual review at the first council meeting in February rather than in January, Unidentified Speaker 3 said, citing the benefit of having any newly elected councilmember see the plan on their first day in office.
Council staff told members the change is limited to a date correction in the text and does not alter the substance of the plan. Unidentified Speaker 3 said staff maintain a tactical plan — a day-to-day task list stored in Teams — that is updated regularly as tasks are completed and new tasks arise; Shelly (identified in discussion as a staff member) is handling day-to-day stewardship of that tactical plan.
Several council participants signaled support for the approach and suggested that if members wanted a deeper discussion the council could schedule a separate work session. Unidentified Speaker 3 recommended the council treat the annual item as a check-in and reserve a special meeting for any substantive, in-depth policy deliberations.
The council took no formal policy action beyond agreeing to the timing change and leaving the draft plan as presently written. The item will return at the first February meeting for the annual review and any councilmembers wishing further discussion were invited to request a special session.
