Herriman canvassers certify 2025 municipal election; Lauren Palmer wins mayoral race

The Herriman Board of Canvassers on Nov. 18 approved a resolution certifying the results of the 2025 municipal general election, formalizing outcomes that include Lauren Palmer’s win in the mayoral race and several council-seat results.
Jackie, who read the canvass totals to the board, announced the mayoral outcome: "For Herriman City mayor, Lauren Palmer received 6,884 votes for a total of 75.23%. Ty Brady received 2,267 votes for a total of 24.77%." The board also heard district results: Teddy Hodges received 1,959 votes in Council District 2; in District 3, Matt Basham received 1,583 votes (56.94%) and Heather Garcia received 1,197 votes (43.06%); and Tara Anderson received 1,431 votes in District 4.
Jackie summarized canvass statistics, saying turnout was 31.4 percent, with 29,200 active voters and 9,174 total ballots counted. Of ballots processed, 8,895 were mail-in; one person voted early in person and 257 voted on election day. The board recorded five UOCAVA ballots for military and overseas voters and 16 provisional ballots counted (17 provisional ballots were received, one excluded for residency). Jackie also reported that "we had a 159 total challenged ballots, and a 114 of those were rejected," noting 102 rejections for signature mismatches and 11 unsigned envelopes.
After brief questions comparing this year’s turnout to prior municipal elections, a motion to approve Resolution R59-2025 "certifying the canvas of the 2025 Herriman Municipal General Election" was made and seconded. The minutes record roll-call responses as Tara: yes; Sherry: yes; Teddy: yes; Jared: yes. The presiding speaker announced that the motion carries, and the board then moved to adjourn.
