Organizers with the Major Brent Taylor Foundation described plans to host a commemorative exhibit and celebration in South Jordan for the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks as part of the America250 calendar.
Jenny Taylor, founder of the Major Brent Taylor Foundation and a military families advocate, said the program will be an educational pop‑up exhibit with more than 400 four‑by‑eight photo panels that walk visitors through late‑19th century context, the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, and the aftermath. Taylor said the exhibit is intended to combine history and civic education with a career‑fair component aimed at inspiring young people to consider service careers.
Taylor said the project is 100% volunteer driven: ‘‘We need over 400 volunteers. This is a 100% volunteer opportunity,’’ she said, and asked attendees for help with donations in kind and fundraising. Mayor Ramsey said the event will be hosted in South Jordan but will be a Salt Lake County‑ and state‑wide initiative, with organizers aiming to bring every fifth grader in Salt Lake County to the exhibit if fundraising permits.
What’s next: Organizers will begin planning meetings and volunteer recruitment; no tickets, fundraising targets or site dates were specified at the event.
