Ogden City Council inducts Council member Lopez; colleagues praise service and representation

Council member Lopez took the oath of office at an Ogden City Council induction ceremony and pledged to represent all residents of the city.

City Recorder Tracy Hansen administered the oath, after Vice Chair Graff led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance. After the oath, Lopez thanked her daughters, friends and voters and said, "Ogden City is a place for hardworking people, and I committed to represent all the people here in Ogden, all those voices." She told colleagues she would make careful decisions on behalf of the community.

Colleagues offered brief congratulations from the dais. One speaker said they had known Lopez through the chamber and local business and called her "hardworking" and "dedicated." Another noted Lopez represents District 1 and expressed confidence in her leadership. A colleague called Lopez's arrival "a historic moment for Ogden to have 2 women of color serving at the same time on Ogden City Council," referencing the concurrent service of a Latino woman and a Black woman.
