A group behind professional pickleball told the State of the City audience that it plans to build a privately funded, world‑class pickleball complex in South Jordan.
Wade Williams, who described himself as having worked in commercial real estate and development and as an organizer for professional pickleball in the region, outlined a four‑story building of about 170,000 square feet with an indoor championship court seating approximately 1,700 people, a grandstand court of about 500 seats, multiple levels of courts (including rooftop courts) and a total of roughly 48 courts including outdoor courts. ‘‘The building we're proposing is a 170,000 square feet. It's 4 stories,’’ Williams said in his remarks.
Williams said the facility will operate mostly as a club for community members — ‘‘98% of the time will be a pickleball club’’ — with rec play for community members most days and the occasional major tournament once or twice a year. He described an event logistics plan that uses remote parking and shuttle service and said his team identified about 10,000 parking stalls within roughly a half‑mile radius to support larger events.
Mayor Ramsey and Williams both emphasized the venue is privately financed and not a city project; Ramsey described it as another private amenity in the city.
What’s next: Williams said his group hopes to host a major event in 2027, but no permitting timeline or final construction date was announced at the event.
